Adam Bullock

First spoken word ever..."tattoo" - dad's ol' sailor tatt sparked a young imagination.
Or maybe it was just easier to say than "astronaught".
Anyway, got into the industry in 1991 under the tutelage of legendary custom artist
Keith Martin, at a time when most Aussie tattooists were copying flash - he designed
a whole shop full, still beautiful flash to this day for the lucky collectors who have
some of his originals. Moved to Adelaide in '93 where 'father' Les Pridham watched
over at the notorious 'Four Roses'. A year of working there and nights on the Hindley strip
and I needed to 'refocus'. Studied Fine Art at Curtin University with Master Painter Ben Joel,
rekindled my passion for painting - grandma taught oils and I sat in on her classes since 5 yo..
Did a year with Lars at 'Pearl Coast' - Broome, really got me working in the right direction.
Worked the busy season in Bunbury at 'Southwest'. Neil and Shaz kind enough to let me
learn 'pace' under pressure. Moved to Denmark in '01 and opened 'High St Tattoo' in '03.
Was a guest artist in a couple of shops in Northern Ireland, finding Tommy Gun and his
'Belfast City Skinworks' - an awesome band of brothers. Last year did a spot at Dean Hollands
shop in Waihi New Zealand. Travelled to London and Tahiti Tattoo conventions.
Member of the Professional Tattoo Artists Association. Worked the
Melbourne PTAA show, did Tim's backpiece over two days there.
Here and now in the middle-of-nowhere, downtown Albany, West Australia.
Opened Darklite Tattoo at the end of 2007 for a change of pace although it's
been good to have had the luxury of time to work on big pieces,
build my custom tattoo machines, and lately - the chopper project.
I’m really not career oriented, just trying to provide the best
possible service for whatever my customers need.
